Nelli / Amla / Gooseberry chutney recipe by Padmanayana Vasudeva, Muscat, OMAN
We all are aware of nutritional & health benefits of Amla. Today I decided to make this chutney and it’s one of the favorites at my place. Gooseberry gives a tangy flavour to the Chutney.
4 or more amla
8 long red chillies
1 onion medium size
1 ½ “small piece of ginger
jaggary-4 nelli size or to taste
1. Clean the amla & chop into small pieces and remove the seed.
2. Put all the ingredients in a mixer and make it into a fine paste. Do not add water. The consistency should be smooth.
3. The chutney can be refrigerated, and lasts for around 7 – 10 days
4. Goes well with paratha, dosa and ganji also.
