Recipe for DRY PRAWNS GARLIC PHANNA UPKARI (sukkale sungta lossun phanna upkari ) by Priya R Shenoy

Method :
wash and clean the dry prawns and keep ready .
soak a small lemon sized tamarind in water and keep ready the pulp.

in a pan (preferably clay pot like the one i used) heat oil and fry handful of garlic cloves ( some 15 to 20) till golden brown.

now add 7 to 9 tspn of red chilli powder to the oil ,fry for some 3 to 4 secs and pour the tamarind pulp immediately this will thicken the gravy few secs.

now add the prawns  and stir for a few secnds, add around 1 cup water and let it boil, add salt as per taste..

when it starts boiling add around 1/2 cup of grated coconut, keep on low flame till the gravy is thickened.

Yummy dry prawns phanna upkari its ready to be served.

Note :
take care not to burn the red chilli powder, fry ONLY for the mentioned seconds and add the tamarind pulp immediately 

u can apply the same recipe to any dry fish .
