KANE { LADY FISH } CURRY recipe by┬áDr Kushal Shetty, M’lore

Ingredients:

8 medium size Kane
1/2 onion cut fine
1 small tomato cut fine
1/2 inch ginger cut fine
1 green chilli slit lengthwise
salt to taste

Masala:

1. 10 no’s — long red chillies
2. 1 and half TBSP- coriander seeds
3. 1/4 tsp – jeera seeds
4. 1/4 tsp – fenugreek seeds
5. 3 no’s – pepper corns
6. 1/2 gadi or 2 cups coconut grated
7. 2 flakes garlic
8. 1/2 lemon size tamarind

Method:

1. Roast the first five items above one by one in a kadai.
2. Grind the roasted items along with coconut, garlic & tamrind to prepare the masala.
3. Collect masala in a vessel.
4. Collect water used to wash the grinder.

Method:

1. In a vessel take the thick masala, add masala water add onion, tomato, ginger,green chilli, salt and boil for 10 min, until the raw smell of the masala disappears.
2. Add the fish and simmer for another 5 min until the fish is cooked.
3. Lift the vessel and move it around to mix the fish.
4. Handle the fish with care.
