This cooling cucumber raitha is both sweet & sour . This goes well with phulkas.

1 small cucumber
1 cup yoghurt
1 tsp chopped coriander leaves
1/2 tsp sugar
½ tsp oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
½ tsp cumin seeds
1 green chillie, chopped


a pinch of red chillie powder ( optional )


1. Beat the yoghurt and add all the chopped ingredients.
2. Season with salt & sugar.
3. Heat oil in a small pan & fry the mustard seeds until they splutter. Add jeera & fry for a few secs. Add the asafetida, then pour over the raita.
4. Chill until ready to serve.
5. If you are using chillie powder to garnish, then do it just before serving or the chillie powder will start dissolving.
