Steamed Rice Dumpling stuffed with Coconut-Jaggery Mix / Kozhukkatta /Churne Galnu Undi


  • Rice flour (store bought) – 1 cup
  • Salt – a pinch
  • Oil/ ghee – 1 tsp
  • Water – 1 ¼ cup
  • Grated Coconut – 1 ½ cup
  • Jaggery – 100 gm
  • Cardamom powder – 1 tsp

Preparation method:Melt Jaggery with little water and strain it. Heat a kadai / pan, boil the strained Jaggery syrup, add grated coconut. Stir continuously until the moisture dries up & then add cardamom powder and mix well. Turn off the flame and let it cool.Boil water with salt and oil/ ghee. Pour this water into the rice powder little by little and mix it with a spoon. Keep it aside for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes knead well and make a smooth dough. Spread little oil on the palm, shape the dough into small balls. Take one ball into palm and flatten it to a small circle. Put 2 tsp coconut Jaggery mixture in its middle and seal it evenly and make round ball. Repeat the process with the rest of the dough and coconut Jaggery mixture.Steam this into a steamer for 15 minutes or till done. Serve warm.
