Bread fruit slices
1/2 cup rice
1/4 tbsp Asafoetida powder
20 Hot Red whole chili
Oil to deep fry
Transfer the slices to a mixing bowl.
Mix thoroughly with your hand
We need a spicy batter to coat the bread fruits with. Ground rice batter makes spicy, crispy fritters.
Method To Make The Batter
Soak Dosa rice for about 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, wash the rice grains well and drain all the water. Grind soaked rice Asafoetida powder with whole red chillies,and salt into a smooth paste using just enough water to make a paste. The ground batter/masala has to be thick so be careful and do not add extra water.
Transfer the ground masala/batter into a bowl.
If the batter’s watery, thicken it by adding in rice flour.Add a tsbp full of flour or more to get the desired consistency of the batter. Mix well coat it well on all sides. Give rest for 1/2 hour.
Heat up oil for deep frying.
Once the oil is rolling hot, masala bread Fruit slices into one by one coated with batter into hot oil. Fry until the masala all around the bread fruit slices change in colour and are completely, uniformly fried. Make it a little crispy if you like by frying them for an extra minute. Transfer bread fruit Fritters onto a kitchen paper to drain excess oil and serve them hot.
Serve them hot as a side dish or as a starter for lunch, dinner. They also make a great Tea time snack.
